I spent about an hour and a half this evening, maybe longer, trying to take a picture of a water drop, and most of the shots missed the drop entirely while those that didn't were out of focus. And while I was doing this our two year old was pottering about playing with her dolls and Stickle Bricks. After a particularly frustrating run of shots she showed me what she'd made ... "it's a computer for my dolly", and she smiled. I congratulated her and got on with taking more terrible shots. After she'd gone to bed I spent another hour looking through the shots I'd taken and gradually realised that none of them were worth putting up.

I went back downstairs to try and find something else to shoot, saw her "computer", and realised that she'd had a lot more fun this evening than I had. I guess that some days, photographically speaking, are just not meant to be.

So, in realisation of that fact, here's dolly playing with her computer.

On another matter: I've had emails from three people over the last couple of days saying that they've had their virus checker pop up when visiting chromasia: two with reports of Trojan.ByteVerify and one mentioning a "bloodhound exploit". I've contacted my host (but haven't heard back from them yet) but if anyone else has experienced anything odd when visiting chromasia could you please let me know.

Beautiful computer; working with that keyboard would give me a headache! Your daughter did a good job putting her hair up.

Jesse: lol. I suspect she had some help with the hair :-)

oh wow I am so creeped out by this... I think it's because it's a doll and they scare me, usually.

This is a great shot. The compostion is nice with strong colours. I love the story behind it as well.

lol. She is beautiful and smart also. The picture itself is not my favorite from your recentrly work, but it is defenitely my favorite story. I love how she set up every thing to make her doll's live easier. For sure she is adorable, and wait for the younger ( and the baby that's on is way) to grown up, you'll have a lot of fun for the next 20 years of your life. :)

Thats the trouble with a daily photoblog...some days you just dont have anything to really good to put up, and you just have to take a snapshot to put up, just for the sake of it. (Anyway, thats how I feel some days).

Cute dolly.

That's a really cute idea. Evidence of the increased role that technology plays in our society can be seen everywhere...even with little kids and dolls.

Great job on the depth of field. Wonderful colors and clarity, as usual. Nicely done.

I *love* how she's done her dolly's hair up in a bun, and the computer? that's a classic. =)

Hihi, that's a nice one. The colors are real vibrant and the doll almost looks like a real person, she is a little underdressed for the office though :-)))...

great job! but the colors are too much flashy.

this is a brilliant dolly, who appeared to me to playing the piano so excitedly she bumped the green piano stool out from under her bum and became lost in the tune!! am now realizing possibly where my son gets his imagination . ;)))

Just an idea but the "Virus" might be caused by the JavaScripts you have in the site.

I like this picture in contrast to your other photos.

I had those blocks, they were a lot of fun. I remember asking my mom to get it (guess I had seen an ad). She said I could get one of the largest sets, but I had to promise not to request more of them. Which worked out. You could make stuff faster then with lego (though of course lego continued to be the toy-of-choice).

As far as viruses, people don't know what they're talking about. I used to work at a campus help desk, viruses often infect Internet Explorer, so it might make it appear that one site or another is causing a problem, when its in fact completely unrelated. If you're nice, respond to those people and tell them to use Firefox. If you're not nice, hit them with a clue stick and tell them to bugger off. ;)
