This is probably the last of the shots I'll be posting from our recent trip to the Lake District: a shot of an old barn - the black building on the left - and a pillbox perched on a small sand dune on the beach at Drigg. If you're not familiar with pillboxes: in England 28,000 of these were built during the early years of World War II, to defend the coast and tidal estuaries. Several thousand still exist, but most, like this one, have seen better days.
