Title • the sea dreams

As most of you know, very few of my photographs are literal representations of a scene: I'm just not interested in providing objective records of the world. Rather, what I aim for is some sort of interpretation of a scene, feeling, or event. Some attempts are successful, others are not.

This one, for me at least, works. Chances are some of you may find it a bit (delete as appropriate) blurry, abstract, and so on, but for me this sort of photograph works to evoke a mood in a more compelling way than many sharply focussed images.

I haven't posted the EXIF data because I thought you might like to speculate about the technique. What I will say is that other than the colour, and an adjustment or two for contrast, this was mostly achieved in camera.

I'll post the EXIF data later.

Ok, owen worked it out so here's the EXIF data, and as you'll see this was taken with a homemade pinhole lens constructed from a body cap, a UV filter and a laser cut pinhole with an effective aperture of f/180.0 – which makes composition a bit of a trial and error exercise ;-)
