Faces & Places Photo Tour to Oman (March 2011)

In March 2011 David ran a three day 'Faces and Places Photo Tour' to Oman with Bobbi Lane. Here's how Gulf Photo Plus described the event:

"It's been a long time coming – our first photography tour workshop. And who better to lead it than Bobbi Lane, a portrait specialist and David Nightingale, a Photoshop guru and landcsape expert. Oman is a stone`s throw away, yet blessed with amazing subjects for portraits and stunning landscapes."

"Bobbi and Dave, who both visited Oman last November when they were here to teach at FotoWeekend, will teach you the skills you need to take your travel photography to the next level. They will show you how to photograph the natural and urban landscape, how to produce stunning travel portraits, and how to combine the two to capture and illustrate the heart and soul of the places you visit." [Workshop description taken from the GPP website].

Just got back from a wonderful & very useful 3-day tour of Oman, and wanted to thank you for the opportunity. In all measures, this Oman tour 2011 was an outstanding success & should set the tone for future tours elsewhere. On behalf of all the participants, I'd like to say that we were very fortunate & happy to be students again, with such talented & helpful instructors like Bobby & Dave assisted by Issa. The organization was great, the tour well planned & the students very harmonious. I definitely got my money's worth!”

HDR Crash Course & Creating Dramatic Images (Austin, TX, February 2011)

In February 2011 David was invited to run two workshops in Austin, Texas: a one day HDR Crash Course and a two day Creating Dramatic Images workshop. Both events were co-organised by Dave Wilson, a freelance art photographer living in the Texas Hill Country.

Despite Mother Nature doing her best to keep people away (we had sub-zero temperatures and snow in Austin on the first workshop day!), both David's classes were well attended and a huge success with the participants. I am a 6 year veteran and teacher of HDR photography but I learned a few new tricks during the one day 'HDR Crash Course'. The two day 'Creating Dramatic Images' class opened up brand new areas of Photoshop to me (I've been using it for 15 years) and taught me many techniques that I have found incredibly useful since and am now using very regularly in my post-processing workflow.”

David's mastery of Photoshop is obvious to anyone viewing his work but his talent for teaching is also outstanding, pitching at just the right level for each member of the group and helping everyone grasp the sometimes tricky concepts involved in the techniques he was using. I may be biased as the organizer of the Austin workshops but I know my post-processing skills improved markedly as a result of attending David's classes and I would heartily recommend his classes to anyone who wants to take their digital photography work to the next level.”
