When we head out to the desert for my GPP Landscape Photography workshop I give the student a list of shots that I'd like them to take: a detail shot, a shot of textures and shapes, a silhouette, the sunset, and an object, e.g. a pair of sunglasses, flip-flops, a water bottle, and so on.

A few years ago one of my students brought along a small plastic dinosaur and Spiderman, but we didn't have anything quite so exciting to shoot this time :-)
