This is a shot of Samar Breitem, one of the many wonderful models who worked with us during GPP 2012. Well, I say "us", but in this case she was modelling for Zack's 'On Location with Zack' workshop at the DIFC while I was running the second day of my 'Landscape Photography' workshop. While Zack was working with another model, Samar was sitting beneath the DIFC building, probably enjoying a quite break, right up until the point we noticed how beautifully she was lit – the light was streaming in from both sides of the DIFC.
I got quite a few shots, but this one is definitely my favourite ... everything just seemed to come together in a way that I think I'd be hard pressed to replicate if I tried. It's definitely one of my favourites of the trip.
If you've taken a look at the original you'll see that I made a range of minor adjustments to both the content and the contrast/saturation, and a more major change to her eyes.
As always, let me know what you think.
Update: the version that's now live is slightly different from the original. If you're interested, there's a discussion about the changes that were made, and why, on Facebook.
