I've been away for the last couple of days on a friends stag weekend (he's getting married in October) and this is the first of a number of shots I'll be putting up. We were staying in a converted barn near Ingleton - a village in North Yorkshire - and this shot was taken in the window of the local fireplace shop.
What I like about it is the mismatch between the sign and the products in the shop, but I think this is fairly typical of the small rural villages of Northern England; i.e. they seem to be community oriented in a way that's neither possible nor sought after in larger towns. Anyway, I won't write more now as I'm half asleep (two late nights and copious amounts of beer), my legs hurt (as a consequence of a six mile hike around the local waterfalls), and I've come home to a house full of ill children.
... more tomorrow.
